Description

It is a plant of fresh and shaded undergrowth, with white flowers of 20 to 50 cm in height. When its foliage is slightly wrinkled, it gives off a strong characteristic garlic smell. It is a plant that sometimes forms large colonies in the undergrowth or along streams. Leaves appear in February-March and flowers from April to June. The harvest period ends with flowering. Bear garlic is a very ancient medicinal plant, it is known because of its high content of vitamin C and its slimming properties.

The bulb is used in tinctures, syrups, decoctions, juices, pulp poultice, essences.

It is advisable to use preferably raw bear garlic to preserve vitamin C. Fresh leaves can be used as a spice, cut menu like chives or parsley and put on bread, soups, sauces, salads and meat dishes.
