Description

This small mushroom of 3 to 12 cm grows in groups, often in lines, sometimes in circles at the edges of the woods, on the slopes of the paths, the chanterelle modest or yellowing accommodates hardwood and softwood, appreciating the very wet soils, pine and fern needle litter, old stumps and moss.

From the beginning of autumn it is found rather in the plain, up to 800m altitude.

This mushroom is formed by a hat of 1 to 7 cm of brown-gray to almost black color. The foot is 3 to 10 cm long and flexuous, hollow, of bright orange color tarnishing with age or exposure.

The modest or yellowing chanterelle can be eaten fresh, dried, canned or frozen.
